Using Your Writing Skills To Make Money Online

By James Beckett

Good writers have always been people who could get work and that is even more the case now that the internet needs writers for online marketing and articles to fill web sites. So let's talk about some ways that you can use your writing skill to make some good money.

Writing for the web has become such a need that there are web sites that will pay you directly for articles. Sites like www.assoicatedcontent.com have become very busy in this kind of commerce. While this site pays fairly low as three to four dollars for each article, they do that because they work with a lot of writers of varying skills. This is a good place for writers with no resume who just want to generate some revenue to get their starts.

What internet employers really need are writers who can create interesting and new content that will bring traffic to their sites and grab and hold customers. On top of that there are web sites that will broker work to writers from other online employers. Get to know these sites because they are a reliable source of income in a pinch. But to get your rate up, also build your reputation and your resume at better paying sites.

Now you will need to write everything you submit yourself as plagiarism will get caught but don't labor at making each article brilliant. If you can produce relatively readable text at around five hundred words each article, keep the spelling and grammar in good shape and meet deadlines, you will do great. And since a lot of sites pay for any kind of content, you can get inspiration for topics by just browsing what other writers are submitting. It isn't ok to plagiarize but its ok to let other writers inspire you just as you will inspire others after you.

Another good way to get some solid writing work is to work with groups of freelance writers in a groups. Just interact with other writers to find how this works. The good thing about writing groups is they can get plenty of work and you don't have to work so hard at finding projects. It's a good idea to build your resume of writing by working with paid sites and then approach a group once you have established yourself.

Sometimes these writers' communities are managed by a strong leader who serves to make sure the work is shared with the writers and keeps a little commission per job for his trouble. Still other writer's communities are just that and writers simply land work and share with others at a lower fee when they have more work in than they can handle. But these writers consortiums also benefit from the huge need for quality content on the internet and these groups are skilled at knowing where to find the good projects online.

Along with these options, there are quite a few sites that are always looking to bring on talented writers. However be aware that these sites are usually passing work to you that they hunted up so your pay might be lower than you might expect. So when you sign on with a site like this, read the terms screens closely so you don't end up doing endless edits and writing more than you agreed to for the money.

Though you most likely won't get rich using any of these methods, it will be a great entry point and practice for your emerging skill. Most writers agree that you have to write each day to become proficient at this profession. Good writers can command $25 an article, so once you have experience and a portfolio of previous work then you can make some serious money, but you need to start off at the bottom and work your way up!
